Brenda Burgess was
born on Merseyside in 1961. She studied at both Kent Institute
of Art and Design and University College, Christ Church,
Canterbury. After graduation she took up the post of Artist and
Sculptor in Residence at the Museum of Kent Life , where she
stayed until the beginning of 2003. Brenda has also held the
post of Travelling Artist for Schools for Kent County Council
for the last five years, providing Kent's schools with quality
arts workshops.

Brenda Burgess workshops will be available for school and
group visitors to Leeds Castle .

She combines
these roles with her own commission works. Her oil
paintings are often very textural and she has developed a
light , limited pallet. These works have a restful and calming
quality about them . The careful use of colour and the shadow
producing texture also means that different lights produce
different moods.
Brenda also
produces portrait sculpture. She believes in using a kind
but honest eye. She believes that capturing someone's likeness
is not just about what the person looks like, it is also about
putting a little of the soul on show. Her works are
produced in either bronze or clay .
Brenda is married
with two sons and lives in Kent. |
